NO lifting needed DO THIS!!!

I havea bad back also and Mack is a big boy, so I got a large tupperware lid, like for a storage box, that is just a bit bigger than his square outline and a few inches deep. Then I fill with wather and bleach and walk Mack right in! Voila! Brains over brawn anyday!

I don't get them often but when I do I pop them and either soak in epson salt or fill a syringe up with peroxide and flush the open IDC and they dry up and heal quickly.......

usually takes it down in three days. I apply it three times a day. I can't get my guys to stand in water with bleach or epsom salts, so this works for us.

small baby socks should stay, they normally do not mind it so much, especially if you occupy them for those few minutes with something. I went as far as spreading peanut butter on a plate and letting him lick it slowly. He is such a pig, he will focus on food and forget about everything else for a while. And all you need to do is soak for few minutes. But Boo may be a bit less tolerant...Then I would put solution in spray bottle and just spray it on her feet and let her walk in the kitchen on tile like that, wet feet and all...

Boo would never the socks stay on, tho. I can't even get a hat to stay on long enough to take a photo. She is obsessive about not having things on her. Sounds like a great idea, tho, for normal dogs.

Honestly, I've never found anything that works

so I just make sure the foot stays clean and dry for several days and they always just go away. I've tried epsom salt soaks and prep H when they popped up right before a show or something and it seemed to make it worse. Just my experience, but Jack gets them every now and then and I just leave them alone or put some witch hazel on them. They never last more than 4-5 days.

I understand lifting is an issue with your hurt back...
What I do with Chester when I have to soak his tootsies in treatment is get baby socks, soak them in solution and then put them on him and keep him locked in the kitchen with me (tile). I do front paws first while I give him belly rub and ear rubs. I even re-soak them during the treatment. Then I wait a while and swap socks on back legs and put him on a towel with a yummy bone and he occupies himself chewing while getting the treatment. Perhaps this would work for you...

I've only had to deal with IDC

a couple of times and have always had good luck with Epsom Salt soaks 2x daily. Never used Prep H because they just lick it off.
Vicky swears by Witch Hazel.

that's my big concern r.e. the Prep H, i.e., Boo will lick it off. I am always amazed at some of the awful tasting things they will lick, including sheetrock, Gold Bond ointment, Neosporin, etc.

I have found that works well is Lamisil spray (found at most drug store in the foot care isle. Spray on the IDC a couple times per day and it will clear it up. Tedi was starting to break out will a big cyst a few days agao, I have been spraying with Lamisil & it is going away. I am also giving him Cephalexin. My dogs like to lick off the Prep H.

I keep reading conflicting advice on soaking in bleach

some posts say to mix one cup of bleach in a half gallon of water, others say use a gallon of water, and others say use two gallons. Do you have any idea what the correct mix is?
I'll get some preparation H tomorrow. Boo also has a thick black scab near her toes, sort of like she gets when she has hot spots. I don't actually see a cyst per se between her toes, tho. Instead it just looks reddish and irritated.
I don't know if I will be able to get her to do the soak, tho. She is too heavy for me to pick up and put in the tub.
